On the evening of Monday, May 13, John Tyler Community College held its 45th annual commencement ceremony. It was a joyous day of first and lasts. Two high school students graduated with associate degrees just weeks before they would graduate from high school - a first at John Tyler. Three faculty members who served the College for a combined total of 126 years said goodbye, and Dr. Marshall W. Smith, who will be retiring August 1, 2013 after serving nearly 23 years as John Tyler Community College’s president, gave the commencement address. We celebrate it all in less than three minutes in this video.
