CHESTER and MIDLOTHIAN, Va. – The community is invited to go on a mystical journey to a town in the Smoky Mountains where a tragic tale of love, superstition and betrayal unfolds in Dark of the Moon. Based on the folk ballad of “Barbara Allen,” Dark of the Moon tells the story of John, a witch boy who falls in love with Barbara Allen, a human. Their relationship sparks resentment among the superstitious townspeople, and trouble soon ensues.
John Tyler Community College’s theatre program brings the story of this ill-fated love affair to the stage this November. The performances, intended for mature audiences only, will be held at 7:00 p.m. on November 8, November 9, November 10, November 15, November 16, and November 17, 2018.
All shows will take place in The Lynn Theatre, located in the T Building at Tyler’s Midlothian Campus (800 Charter Colony Parkway). Directions to the campus may be found at www.jtcc.edu/locations.
Tickets are $10 and may be purchased at www.brownpapertickets.com/event/3799346. Current Tyler students are free with a valid JTCC ID.
Dark of the Moon, by Howard Richardson and William Berney, is presented with special arrangement through Samuel French Inc.
