The Fall 2018 semester is getting underway! To help you prepare for the start of this new academic year, we wanted to provide you with a few helpful tips.
Double-check your schedule:
- Look at your class start date. While many of our classes start the week of August 27, some of our fall classes start later in the semester.
- Check your class location. We offer classes in person at multiple locations, as well as online.
You may access your schedule through the Student Information System in myTyler.
Purchase your Textbooks:
Make sure you purchase any required textbooks before your class begins. Information about textbooks may be found at www.jtcc.edu/bookstore. If you plan to use financial aid to purchase your textbooks, you must do so by no later than September 12.
Get to know Tyler’s campuses:
If your classes will bring you to the Chester or Midlothian campuses, you may want to check out our campus maps at www.jtcc.edu/locations. These maps will provide you with an overview of our campuses, including building locations and parking lots.
Learn about your online classes:
If you are enrolled in an online class, you’re probably anxious to check it out. Your course will appear in Blackboard the week your class session is scheduled to begin. For example: If you are in a 15-Week/Regular Session class, it will appear in Blackboard the week of August 27. If you are in a 12-Week class, it will appear in blackboard the week of September 11.
Need help?
Tyler’s faculty and staff are here to assist you.
During the first few days of class, we’ll have welcome tables set up on our campuses. We’ll also have faculty and staff out in the hallways, ready to help you find your classroom and to answer your questions.
If you are an online student and you need help with Blackboard or other online resources, our Center for Teaching and Learning will be happy to assist you.
