Experience historical sites, monuments and museums as you explore the history of Western thought during John Tyler Community College’s Summer 2018 international studies trip (June 23 – July 7, 2018). “Inquiring Minds, Enlightened Societies: Amsterdam to Berlin” will take you on a journey through The Netherlands and Germany, where you will use both philosophical and sociological perspectives to gain new understandings of Western thought and discover how ideas can shape the structures of societies and improve the lives of individuals. Two courses will be offered in conjunction with the trip: SOC 268 – The Analysis of Social Problems (3 credits) and PHI 220 – The History of Western Ethics (3 credits). Trip participants may enroll in one or both courses. The trip itinerary may be found online.
Information sessions about “Inquiring Minds, Enlightened Societies: Amsterdam to Berlin” will be held at both campuses. All are welcome to attend.
