No military child goes without. That is the motto of the Fort Lee Holiday Helper Program. For the second year in a row, John Tyler Community College will once again help support this program, which allows wounded warriors and other nominated military members to shop free of charge for their children’s holiday toys and gifts at Fort Lee’s on-site toy store.

The Holiday Helper program accepts books, clothing, sporting equipment, crafts, toys, all types of gift cards, and cash (to be used for gifts) for children of all ages, infant to 18.  This year, there is a great need for gifts to support the seven to 12 year-old age group, and there is an urgent need for books for children of all ages.

If you’d like to contribute a single item or more toward this worthwhile cause, please take your new, unwrapped purchases and donations to either Moyar Hall, room M112c, on the Chester Campus or Eliades Hall, room E124, on the Midlothian Campus.  John Tyler will be collecting donations through December 8. The gifts will be delivered to the Holiday Helper Open House at Fort Lee on December 9.

There are also volunteer opportunities to help military members shop and wrap their gifts, during the Holiday Helper shopping days at Fort Lee on December 13 and December 14.

To learn more about the Holiday Helper program and to find out how to volunteer, visit the program’s web site at www.holidayhelperassociation.com.
