Do you describe yourself as innovative? Do you embrace technology? Do you like to crack codes and solve puzzles? Do you want to help people? Do you like to build? Do you want to know how things work? Do you like to make discoveries? If you answered yes to one or more of these questions, then a career tied to science, technology, engineering, math or healthcare (STEM-H) may be for you. These in-demand careers offer good salaries and benefits, and employers are often looking for qualified people to fill open positions.
Want to learn more? Then, join us Thursday, November 3 for John Tyler Community College’s Modern Makers Open House. From 3:00 – 7:00 p.m., our Chester Campus will be buzzing with activity as we open our high-tech labs, show off our cutting-edge simulators, introduce you to Tyler’s programs, discuss the importance of industry-recognized certifications, and offer you the chance to talk to area businesses about the skills they look for when hiring new employers.
Modern Makers will cover a wide variety of career paths, skills and technologies, including cyber security, emergency medical services, welding, chemistry, advanced manufacturing, 3D printing, engineering, computer science, electricity, nursing, math, drones, and HVAC.
The event, which is free and open to the community, is divided into four tracks – IT/Engineering, Manufacturing, Health, and Science/Math; you can follow one track or explore multiple areas of interest by attending sessions in multiple tracks. Plus, many sessions are offered more than once, so you are welcome to come and go as your schedule permits.
