Congratulations to Brandon Johnson! Brandon was among dozens of Virginia community college students who were recognized for their outstanding academic achievements and their commitment to community service. Brandon, who majored in General Studies at John Tyler, was named to the Phi Theta Kappa 2016 All-Virginia Academic during a luncheon in Richmond at the end of the spring semester. Brandon completed his associate degree in December and transferred to the University of Richmond where he is majoring in rhetoric and communication studies with a minor in history. While at Tyler, he was a member of Phi Theta Kappa, participated in several student clubs, volunteered at College events, and was a tutor in the writing center. Brandon describes himself as an “avid writer.” “I particularly like short fiction across various genres,” he says. “I recently took first place in the fiction category of John Tyler’s Sherwood Forest Literary Review, and my story ‘Thieves’ appeared PTK’s Nota Bene literary review.” Once he completes his bachelor’s degree, Brandon wants to pursue a career in the communications field.
