CHESTER and MIDLOTHIAN, Va. – Fanciful, realistic, eye-catching, multi-dimensional and creative – these are just a few ways to describe the wide array of art on display for the 2016 John Tyler Community College Juried Student Art Show. The show, made up of nearly 100 pieces in a variety of mediums, showcases the talents and skills of Tyler’s art students. “The quality of artwork in this exhibition showcases why our students enjoy such a high level of success transferring into four-year visual art programs and even directly into art-related professions,” says Colin Ferguson, professor of art at the College.
This year’s exhibit was juried by Pam Turner, an associate professor in the School of the Arts at Virginia Commonwealth University and the department chair of Kinetic Imaging. Turner is a multi-media artist who works in experimental animation, and she serves on Tyler’s Visual Arts Advisory Board. Turner announced the winners of this year’s Juried Student Art Show during an opening reception on April 15, 2016. The winners are as follows (zip codes are in parentheses):

The community is invited to visit John Tyler Community College to enjoy the 2016 Juried Student Art Show. The exhibit will remain on display through May 6, 2016. It is located at the Midlothian Campus on the second floor of Eliades Hall.
