Join us on November 11, as our college community comes together to honor past and present members of the armed services during John Tyler Community College’s annual Veterans Day Ceremony. It will begin at 11:00 a.m. in Hamel Hall, room H109, at the Midlothian Campus.

This year’s ceremony will include a keynote address by U. S. Marine veteran, Tyler alumnus, Tyler adjunct faculty member, and civil engineer Christopher Zabrosky. Zabrosky, who grew up in Chesterfield County, served in the United States Marine Corps on active duty from 1997-2001 and was briefly recalled in 2003, achieving the rank of corporal. While in the Marines, he served as a landing support specialist and as a military police officer, and he served in combat support operations during the Kosovo campaign. Zabrosky graduated from John Tyler Community College in 2003 with an Associate of Applied Science in Architectural Engineering Technology and then joined the workforce for a few years before deciding to continue his education. He enrolled at Old Dominion University (ODU), and in 2013, he graduated with a Bachelor’s of Science in Civil Engineering Technology and was awarded ODU’s Faculty Award in Civil Engineering Technology. He is currently pursuing a master’s degree in engineering management at ODU. Zabrosky works as a civil/structural engineer at CB & I, which has a cooperative engineering group with Honeywell in Hopewell. He also works as an adjunct faculty member at John Tyler, teaching geometric dimensioning and tolerancing.

During Tyler’s Veterans Day Ceremony, Zabrosky will talk about his experience as a student veteran. The ceremony also will include recognition of Tyler’s faculty, staff and student veterans and a memorial tree planting.
