CHESTER and MIDLOTHIAN, Va. –As technology evolves and more and more Baby Boomers retire, employers’ needs change. So, now more than ever, education and training are essential to those who want to be competitive in the workforce. John Tyler Community College offers a wide variety of opportunities, designed to help students build the skills and knowledge they need to get ahead – whether they plan to enter the workforce for the first time, want to switch careers, seek career advancement, or are beginning work on a bachelor’s degree.

Tyler’s majors include certificates that can be completed in as little as two semesters, programs that give students the opportunity to earn industry-recognized credentials, majors that involve hands-on training in high-tech labs, and associate degrees, which can be completed in two years. In addition to programs focused on career and technical training, Tyler also offers associate degree majors for those who want to earn a bachelor’s degree. These transfer majors allow students to save money while taking their freshman and sophomore courses at Tyler, and graduates of the programs, who meet grade point average and other criteria, can use guaranteed admissions agreements to seamlessly transfer to a four-year college or university to complete their bachelor’s degree. Tyler currently has transfer agreements with more than 35 public and private institutions. A full list of transfer agreements may be found at www.jtcc.edu/transfer, and a list of Tyler’s majors with links to class requirements may be found at www.jtcc.edu/academics.
