Written by Ray D’Aguanno, a Tyler student interning on the construction site, Brick by Brick chronicles the construction of Phase III of John Tyler Community College’s Midlothian Campus.  The highlight of Phase III is a new 67,347-square-foot academic building, which will provide specialized space for engineering classes, allowing the College to continue expanding its offerings in the fields of science, technology, engineering, mathematics and healthcare (STEM-H).

In addition to an engineering lab, the three-story academic building will house an outdoor classroom and learning lab, a black box teaching theatre, a music room, a recording studio, computer labs, classrooms, faculty offices, student services offices, fitness and dance classrooms, and a small café. Finally, the project includes construction of a four-story parking deck and a new campus entrance on Woolridge Road. During construction, the loop road on campus will also be completed.

Midlothian Phase III offers Tyler students, and the broader community, a number of exciting new opportunities. The project is slated to be completed by Fall 2015.
